Hello there!
My name is Rich Haridy. I've been reporting on the field of psychedelic science for around a decade and in the course of that work there have been many interesting stories that fell into the cracks. Some were frequently pitched ideas that never caught the attention of an editor, others were kernels of stories that never really shaped into a big article.
So I'm starting this thing (call it a newsletter, platform, website, blog - what is anything anymore?) to hopefully create a place where I can publish some of my undiluted thoughts.
What's going to be in this? Probably lots of things, but it all will be led by an overarching interest in this grand idea of psychedelics in the 21st century. How are we thinking about this resurgence of psychedelic drugs into mainstream culture? What are the latest scientific discoveries? And what even is this thing we are calling the 'psychedelic renaissance'?
That means you'll likely see some new reporting published here, and some behind-the-curtain takes on stories I publish elsewhere. Plus, I'll keep my eye on the newest science and probably pen a few deep dives into my problems with most mainstream psychedelic journalism.
I'm also not too humble to shout from the rooftops; my first book, Trip Reports: Stories from an Australian psychedelic renaissance, will be hitting bookstores in September 2026. So I'll be talking about that here too. Maybe giving you some exclusive short excerpts from the book alongside some bits that ended up on the cutting room floor.
In the run up to that release I'm going to try publish something here fortnightly. And each post will also go out as a newsletter so I'd love you to subscribe and come on the ride with me.
Thanks for joining me. I really appreciate your support.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
Rich
